How are words counted?
A word is any run of letters or numbers between spaces or punctuation. Chinese, Japanese and Thai text has no spaces, so your browser’s built-in language rules split it into words.
Do spaces count as characters?
Yes. The Characters count includes spaces and line breaks. Characters (No Spaces) leaves every kind of space out.
How is reading time worked out?
Reading time assumes 238 words per minute, the average silent reading speed for adults. Speaking time assumes 150 words per minute, a comfortable pace for a talk or video.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
Your text is never uploaded. A draft is kept only in this browser so it is still here if you close the tab. Press Clear to remove it.
How many characters fit in one SMS?
One text message holds 160 characters. Longer messages are split into parts of 153 characters each, because a little room is used to join them back together.
What does keyword density show?
It lists the 10 words you use most, with how often each appears as a share of all words. Common English words like “the” and “and” are left out.
