Frequently Asked Questions

How is IRPP on salaries worked out in Cameroon?

Under the 2026 General Tax Code, gross pay is reduced by a flat 30% for professional expenses, your CNPS pension contribution and a flat FCFA 500,000 a year. The rest is taxed at 10% up to FCFA 2,000,000 a year, 15% up to 3,000,000, 25% up to 5,000,000 and 35% above. A 10% council surtax (CAC) is then added to the tax, so the effective rates are 11%, 16.5%, 27.5% and 38.5%. Employers withhold it monthly using one twelfth of these amounts.

How much CNPS is deducted?

You pay 4.2% of your salary to the CNPS pension branch and your employer pays another 4.2%, on pay up to FCFA 750,000 a month. Your employer also pays 7% for family benefits (same ceiling) and 1.75%, 2.5% or 5% for work accidents on the whole salary, depending on the company’s risk group.

What are CFC, RAV and TDL?

CFC is the Crédit Foncier housing contribution: 1% of gross pay from you and 1.5% from your employer. RAV is the CRTV audiovisual levy, a fixed monthly amount from FCFA 750 to 13,000 depending on gross pay. TDL is the local development tax, from FCFA 250 to 2,500 a month depending on basic salary. Employers also pay 1% to the National Employment Fund (FNE).

Is the 30% professional expenses deduction capped?

The 2026 edition of the General Tax Code caps it at FCFA 4,800,000 a year (400,000 a month), which only matters above about FCFA 1,333,333 a month. The DGI’s own monthly withholding table does not apply this cap, and IRPP measures from the 2024 Finance Law were temporarily suspended for employers, so the cap is a toggle here. Ask your employer or tax centre which treatment your payroll uses.

Is this an official DGI calculator?

No. This is an estimate, not official tax advice. It uses the published DGI and CNPS rules, but benefits in kind, bonuses, exemptions and your employer’s payroll can change the result, so check your payslip or ask the Direction Générale des Impôts (www.impots.cm) or the CNPS.

Does it work for yearly salaries?

Yes. Switch Pay Period to Yearly and enter your annual figures. The calculation is done monthly, as employers withhold it, and multiplied by 12.
