Frequently Asked Questions
What are the salary tax slabs for 2026-27?
For tax year 2027 (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027), annual taxable salary up to Rs 600,000 is tax-free. Then: 1% on income from Rs 600,000 to Rs 1.2 million, 11% to Rs 2.2 million, 20% to Rs 3.2 million, 25% to Rs 4.1 million, 29% to Rs 5.6 million, 32% to Rs 7 million and 35% above Rs 7 million. These come from the FBR withholding tax rates card updated for the Finance Act 2026.
Is there still a surcharge on high salaries?
No. The Finance Act 2026 withdrew the section 4AB surcharge for income from salary, so salaried people earning over Rs 10 million no longer pay the extra 9% they paid in tax year 2026. The surcharge can still apply to business income and some other income.
How much tax is deducted each month?
Your employer works out the tax on your expected annual salary and deducts it in equal monthly amounts, adjusting for bonuses and changes during the year. This calculator shows the annual tax; switch to Monthly to see one twelfth of it. For example, Rs 150,000 a month is Rs 1.8 million a year, taxed Rs 72,000, or Rs 6,000 a month.
Are allowances and bonuses taxed?
Yes. Most allowances and bonuses are part of salary and are taxed at the same slabs. Some items have special rules, such as medical allowance up to 10% of basic salary for employees without employer medical cover, but this calculator treats everything you enter as taxable.
Is this an official FBR calculator?
No. This is an estimate, not official tax advice. It uses the published FBR salary slabs, but exemptions, tax credits, adjustable advance taxes and your employer’s payroll can change the figure. Check your salary slip or ask the FBR or a tax adviser.
What is not included?
EOBI contributions (1% of the minimum wage for employees), provincial social security, provident fund, tax credits for donations or pension funds, and exempt allowances are not included. Non-filer (non-ATL) rules and pension income are not covered either.
