Frequently Asked Questions

What are the income tax rates in Senegal for 2026?

The DGID barème (CGI article 173) is annual: up to 630,000 FCFA at 0%, 630,001 to 1,500,000 at 20%, to 4,000,000 at 30%, to 8,000,000 at 35%, to 13,500,000 at 37%, to 50,000,000 at 40% and 43% above 50,000,000. For a salary, taxable income is your gross pay minus a flat 30% allowance capped at 900,000 FCFA a year, rounded down to the nearest 1,000 FCFA.

How do family parts reduce my tax?

Senegal does not divide your income by your parts. Instead the tax from the barème is reduced by a percentage that depends on your parts (CGI article 174), between a minimum and a maximum: 1.5 parts give 10% (100,000 to 300,000 FCFA), 2 parts 15%, 2.5 parts 20%, up to 5 parts at 45% (800,000 to 3,180,000 FCFA). You start with 1 part, add half a part if married, half a part per dependent child, and half a part more if your spouse has no taxable income, up to 5 parts. A widow or widower with children counts as married in the official table, so choose Married in that case.

What is TRIMF?

The Taxe Représentative de l’Impôt du Minimum Fiscal is a small flat local tax withheld from salaries. It depends on your annual gross income: 900 FCFA below 600,000, then 3,600, 4,800, 12,000, 18,000 and 36,000 FCFA a year from 12,000,000. It is also charged for a spouse who has no income, so this calculator doubles it in that case.

How much goes to IPRES and the health insurance (IPM)?

IPRES takes 5.6% of your salary up to 432,000 FCFA a month for the general pension scheme, and your employer adds 8.4%. Managers (cadres) also pay 2.4% to the supplementary scheme on salary up to 1,296,000 FCFA a month, with 3.6% from the employer. IPM health contributions vary by scheme, between 2% and 7.5% each on salary up to 250,000 FCFA a month, so enter your own rate if you know it.

Is this an official DGID calculator?

No. This is an estimate, not official tax advice. It uses the DGID barème and the published IPRES and CSS rates, but your employer’s payroll, benefits in kind, exemptions and the exact way IPRES applies the managers’ scheme can change the result. Check your payslip, the DGID or the IPRES before relying on it.

Are any figures uncertain?

The income tax barème, abattement, family reduction and TRIMF come from the 2025 edition of the tax code published by the DGID, and no change for 2026 has been found. The IPRES ceilings come from the CLEISS table for 1 January 2026 and the PwC summary, as the IPRES website was not reachable. Whether the managers’ 2.4% applies to the whole salary up to 1,296,000 FCFA or only to the part above 432,000 FCFA is not fully settled in the sources we found; this calculator uses the whole salary.
