Frequently Asked Questions
How is PPh 21 calculated in 2026?
Since January 2024 employers withhold PPh 21 each month from January to November with the effective rates (TER) from PP 58/2023, applied to monthly gross income. In December the full-year tax is worked out with the progressive Pasal 17 rates and December’s deduction is the difference. This calculator shows that full-year tax: 5% up to Rp 60 million of taxable income, 15% up to Rp 250 million, 25% up to Rp 500 million, 30% up to Rp 5 billion and 35% above. Monthly figures are one twelfth of it, so your January to November slips may show different amounts.
What is PTKP?
PTKP is the tax-free allowance. In 2026 it is Rp 54 million a year for you, plus Rp 4.5 million if you are married and Rp 4.5 million for each dependant, up to three. So TK/0 is Rp 54 million and K/3 is Rp 72 million.
What BPJS deductions come off my salary?
You pay 2% for JHT (old-age savings), 1% for JP (pension, on wages up to the JP cap) and 1% for BPJS Kesehatan (health, on wages up to Rp 12 million). Your employer pays JHT 3.7%, JP 2%, Kesehatan 4%, JKM 0.3% and JKK of 0.24% to 1.74% depending on job risk. JHT and JP that you pay are deducted before tax.
Why are employer BPJS premiums added to my taxable income?
Under PMK 168/2023, the JKK, JKM and BPJS Kesehatan premiums your employer pays for you count as part of your gross income for PPh 21, although you never receive them in cash. Employer JHT and JP contributions are not added.
Is this an official DJP calculator?
No. This is an estimate, not official tax advice. It uses the published tax rates, PTKP and BPJS rates, but your employer’s payroll, the monthly TER withholding and any incentives can change the figures. Check your payslip or ask the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) or your HR team.
What is not included?
The monthly TER tables, the lower JP wage cap that applied in January and February 2026 (Rp 10,547,400; the Rp 11,086,300 cap from March 2026 is used for the whole year, as reported by PwC, since the BPJS circular itself could not be checked), the BPJS Kesehatan minimum wage floor, PPh 21 paid by the government (DTP) for some sectors, zakat, non-resident rules and benefits in kind are not included.
