Frequently Asked Questions
What are the ITS rates in Côte d'Ivoire?
Since 1 January 2024 (Ordonnance n° 2023-719), a single tax on salaries (ITS) replaced the old IS, CN and IGR. It is charged monthly on the full gross taxable pay: up to 75,000 FCFA 0%, 75,001 to 240,000 FCFA 16%, 240,001 to 800,000 FCFA 21%, 800,001 to 2,400,000 FCFA 24%, 2,400,001 to 8,000,000 FCFA 28%, and 32% above 8,000,000 FCFA. The old 20% abatement no longer applies.
How does the family reduction (RICF) work?
The family quotient was replaced by a reduction for family charges (RICF), taken off the tax: 5,500 FCFA a month for each half-share above one share, up to 44,000 FCFA at the 5-share maximum. A single person has 1 share and a married person 2; each dependent child adds half a share, and a single parent gets an extra half share. The reduction cannot make the tax negative.
How much CNPS is deducted?
You pay 6.3% of your gross pay to the CNPS pension scheme and your employer adds 7.7%, on pay up to 3,375,000 FCFA a month (45 times the SMIG of 75,000 FCFA). Your employer also pays family benefits (5%), maternity (0.75%) and work injury (2% to 5% by sector) on the first 70,000 FCFA. CNPS is not deducted before ITS is worked out.
What is the CMU deduction?
The Couverture Maladie Universelle costs 1,000 FCFA a month per person. For an employee it is split 500 FCFA employee and 500 FCFA employer. Contributions for a spouse and children are not included here.
Is this an official DGI or CNPS calculator?
No. This is an estimate, not official tax advice. It uses the published ITS scale and CNPS rates, but benefits in kind, exempt allowances, sector-specific rates and your employer's payroll can change the figure, so check your payslip or ask the DGI or CNPS.
Which employer costs are shown?
Employer CNPS (pension, family, maternity, work injury at the lowest 2% rate), employer CMU, and employer taxes on salaries of 2.8% for local staff or 12% for expatriates (employer ITS contribution plus FDFP training taxes, as summarised by PwC). Your actual work injury rate depends on your sector.
