Frequently Asked Questions

What are the personal income tax rates in Thailand?

Net income up to ฿150,000 a year is exempt. Then 5% to ฿300,000, 10% to ฿500,000, 15% to ฿750,000, 20% to ฿1 million, 25% to ฿2 million, 30% to ฿5 million and 35% above ฿5 million.

How is net income worked out from my salary?

You first deduct 50% of your employment income for expenses, up to ฿100,000. Then you deduct allowances: ฿60,000 for yourself, ฿60,000 for a spouse with no income, ฿30,000 per child (another ฿30,000 for the second and later children born in 2018 or later) and the social security contributions you paid.

How much is social security in 2026?

You pay 5% of your wages to the Social Security Fund, up to ฿875 a month, and your employer pays the same. The maximum corresponds to wages of ฿17,500 a month, up from the long-standing ฿750 (on ฿15,000).

Is the monthly withholding the same as this?

Employers estimate your yearly tax and withhold it evenly each month, so it should be close to the monthly figure shown here. Bonuses, other income and extra allowances you claim on your return can change the final amount.

Is this an official Revenue Department calculator?

No. This is an estimate, not official tax advice. It uses the published Revenue Department rates and allowances and the Social Security Office contribution limit, but your employer’s payroll and other deductions can change the figure. Check your payslip or ask the Revenue Department.

What is not included?

Provident fund, RMF, SSF and Thai ESG fund contributions, life and health insurance premiums, parental care, home-loan interest, donations and other deductions are not included, so your actual tax may be lower. Non-resident rules are not covered.
