Frequently Asked Questions
What are the income tax rates in Malaysia for 2026?
Resident chargeable income is taxed at 0% on the first RM5,000, 1% to RM20,000, 3% to RM35,000, 6% to RM50,000, 11% to RM70,000, 19% to RM100,000, 25% to RM400,000, 26% to RM600,000, 28% to RM2 million and 30% above. If your chargeable income is RM35,000 or less you also get a RM400 rebate.
How much EPF, SOCSO and EIS is deducted?
You pay 11% of your wages to EPF; your employer pays 13% if you earn RM5,000 a month or less and 12% above that. SOCSO is 0.5% for you and 1.75% for your employer, and EIS is 0.2% each, both on wages up to RM6,000 a month (at most RM29.75 and RM11.90 a month for you).
Which reliefs are included?
The RM9,000 individual relief, up to RM4,000 for your EPF contributions, up to RM350 for SOCSO, RM4,000 for a spouse with no income and RM2,000 for each child under 18. Other reliefs such as life insurance (up to RM3,000), medical, education, lifestyle and higher-education child reliefs are not included, so your actual tax may be lower.
Is this the same as my monthly PCB?
Not exactly. PCB (MTD) is the monthly tax deduction your employer makes using LHDN’s formula, which spreads your expected yearly tax over the months. This calculator works out the full year’s tax and divides it by 12, so your PCB can differ by a few ringgit a month, especially in months with a bonus. The total is settled when you file your return.
Is this an official LHDN calculator?
No. This is an estimate, not official tax advice. It uses the published LHDN, EPF and PERKESO rates, but your employer’s payroll, the EPF and SOCSO contribution tables (which work in wage brackets) and your other reliefs can change the figure. Check your payslip, LHDN’s MyTax or your HR team.
What is not included?
The Non-Employment Injury Scheme contribution PERKESO introduced from 1 June 2026, foreign workers’ 2% EPF, contributions for employees aged 60 and over, zakat, the spouse rebate, benefits in kind and non-resident 30% tax are not included.
