Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Polish income tax rates for 2026?
Employees on the tax scale pay 12% on income up to 120,000 zł a year and 32% above that. A tax-reducing amount of 3,600 zł a year (300 zł a month with a PIT-2 form) makes the first 30,000 zł effectively tax-free. A draft law from September 2026 proposes new brackets, but it is not in force and is not used here.
What ZUS contributions does an employee pay?
Pension 9.76%, disability 1.5% and sickness 2.45% of gross pay. Pension and disability contributions stop once your yearly pay passes 282,600 zł in 2026 (30 times the forecast average wage).
How is the health contribution worked out?
It is 9% of gross pay minus your ZUS contributions. It is not deducted from your tax, and it has no upper limit.
What is the youth relief (ulga dla młodych)?
If you are under 26, pay from employment up to 85,528 zł a year is free of PIT. You still pay ZUS and the health contribution. The calculator spreads the limit evenly over the year, while employers stop the relief in the month you pass it.
What does my employer pay on top?
Pension 9.76%, disability 6.5%, accident insurance (1.67% here, the rate for most small firms; it ranges from 0.67% to 3.33%), Labour Fund 2.45% and the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund 0.10%.
Is this an official calculator?
No. This is an estimate, not tax advice. It uses yearly limits spread evenly over 12 months and rounds PIT to whole złoty, so your monthly payslip can differ, especially late in the year. Check with your employer or the Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa (podatki.gov.pl) for exact figures.
