Frequently Asked Questions
What are the IRPEF rates for 2026?
23% up to €28,000, 33% from €28,000 to €50,000 and 43% above €50,000. The 2026 Budget Law (Law 199/2025) cut the middle rate from 35% to 33%. For incomes above €200,000 the benefit of the cut is clawed back; that is not included here.
What is the cuneo fiscale in 2026?
Employees with income up to €20,000 get a tax-free sum of 7.1%, 5.3% or 4.8% of their employment income. Between €20,000 and €32,000 there is an extra €1,000 tax deduction, which falls to nil at €40,000. Both are applied by your employer in the payslip.
Which deductions are included?
The employee deduction (detrazione per lavoro dipendente): €1,955 up to €15,000, then tapering to nil at €50,000, plus €65 between €25,000 and €35,000. Up to €15,000, the €1,200 trattamento integrativo is also included. Family deductions (spouse, children over 21) are not included.
How much INPS do employees pay?
The calculator uses 9.19% of gross pay, the standard employee rate for most private-sector jobs (9.49% where the CIGS levy applies); the exact rate depends on how INPS classifies your employer, so check your payslip. Above the first pension band of €56,224 a year an extra 1% applies. If you were first insured from 1 January 1996, contributions stop at the 2026 ceiling of €122,295: tick the option to apply it.
Why do I need to enter the regional and municipal surcharge?
The addizionale regionale (from 1.23%) and comunale (up to 0.9%) depend on where you live, and many regions use brackets. Enter your combined rate to include them; they are charged on taxable income only when IRPEF is due.
Is this an official Agenzia delle Entrate calculator?
No. This is an estimate, not tax advice. It works on a whole-year basis, so check your payslip (busta paga) or the Agenzia delle Entrate for your exact figures.
